Tech-Pro World Clock 2 - Adding New Cities
The city data file for Tech-Pro World Clock 2 is a text file on the hard drive which is editable with Notepad. It is technically possible to edit this file to add new cities. However, we do not support this, as it is easy to make a mistake and generate invalid data that could cause problems. If the city you wish to add is one that you feel should have been included in the distributed data file then a better solution would be to submit the details to us for inclusion in the official data file. However, we reserve the right to refuse to include your suggestions.
If you wish to try to add your own cities, the way to go about it is as follows:
- Open the file citydata.dat in Notepad.
- Copy the line for a nearby city in the same country.
- Paste it back into the file in the correct place for the new name in the alphabetical order.
- Change the city name, latitude and longitude.
- Make sure the new entry conforms to exactly the same format as the other entries, e.g. the name is City, Country and all the other values line up with the columns. Use spaces to align the data, not tabs.
Tech-Pro World Clock 2 has been designed to check the version of the city data file so that updates can be downloaded for daylight saving changes, correction of errors etc. Do not change the version number of the amended file. Be aware that updates which will overwrite any changes you make, so make a backup copy of your amended version.
