How To: Recover a Word Document using WordFIX
WordFIX is a powerful and easy to use software that can recover or repair corrupted or damaged Microsoft Word documents. It supports all versions of Microsoft Word, and where possible can recover the original document including all formatting, headers, footers, tables, tables of contents and so on. If the document is badly damaged then it can recover the plain text so you can create a new document by reformatting it. This tutorial shows how this is accomplished.
First, download WordFIX and install it on your computer.
Start WordFIX. If you are running the demo version you will see a welcome screen. Click Start.
This is the first screen of the WordFIX Word document recovery wizard. Select the document you wish to repair or recover. Note that WordFIX has a multi-file recovery option that can be used to quickly recover a number of damaged documents such as might happen when a disk is corrupted or damaged.
Ensure that Recovery Mode is set to Recover Microsoft Word document. This will cause WordFIX to attempt to recover the document with full formatting and create a new Word document. If the document is badly corrupted then this may not be possible, in which case you can try again this time selecting Recover text.
Recovering your Word document
Click Recover. WordFIX will now try to recover your document. If it is successful, it will display a message that the recovery has been successful. Click Go to Save.
Now you can specify the name of the file to which the recovered document will be saved.
IMPORTANT: Do not overwrite the original corrupt Word document with the recovered copy. If some information was not recovered during the recovery, you might want to try a different recovery mode to try to recover more text.
Click Save to create the new document.
WordFIX will now display a message that the document has been saved. Click Open to view the document in Microsoft Word. If the document is not fully repaired and some text is lost, you may wish to try the recovery again, this time using the Recover text option.
Note that the demo version will not recover the complete file. You must purchase a license and activate the program to enable the full recovery features of the software.
Recovering or repairing a corrupt or damaged Word document is easy and quick using WordFIX recovery software. Why not try the demo version to see for yourself?
