Tech-Pro GreenSaver allows you to have a choice of shutdown options depending on the time of day. For example, when the screensaver runs during the day, it can suspend or hibernate the computer leaving it ready for a speedy start-up when you return. After a specified time, such as the office closing time, you can have the screensaver shut down the computer instead. So there is no need for computers to be left switched on, running an ordinary screensaver, wasting power all night.
The Tech-Pro GreenSaver screensaver is static. It is not animated, apart from the countdown timer that displays the time to go
until shutdown. We originally made an animated version, but the animation used a significant amount of CPU time. Screensavers
may look pretty, but they burn power for no good reason, since you aren't even looking at them most of the time. The purpose
of GreenSaver is to help save money and energy. So we removed the animation. This does not cause any risk of damage to the
screen. Screensavers nowadays have a purely cosmetic purpose because colour CRTs and LCD flat panels do not suffer from
'screen burn'.
