One of the best features of Automize is that it lets you schedule and execute tasks with no knowledge of scripting and programming. However, if you are an advanced user and have the Professional or Enterprise version then you can write scripts for complex automation tasks.
Automize allows you to create a task chain which will execute inter-dependent commands and programs in a sequence. For example, you can open the web browser, download a program from a specific URL and then execute it. You can even use the exit codes from the previous tasks to check whether the previous task has been executed successfully and make the sequence perfect.
You can schedule a task to perform various Windows, OS X or Linux shell commands and carry out file operations such as copy, zip and delete files and directories. You can use wildcards in filenames, and append the date and time to the filename for archiving purposes.
If you are a database administrator or user then you can use Automize to schedule and run various SQL statements on the database, monitor a database table for the data and structure changes and so on.
The Automate FTP feature can be used to schedule automatic file transfer tasks either within the local network or over the Internet. The transferred files can be renamed automatically based on the date, if required. The operation also supports multiple files transfer using wildcards. FTP operations can be easily logged for audit purposes. Secure FTP is supported in the Enterprise version.
You can automate email operations such as checking a mailbox, sending emails to multiple recipients based on various conditions, downloading the attachments and so on.
Automize can be used to schedule downloads from the Internet. You can specify the local file name for the download based on the current time, day, month and year. You can also monitor specific websites for updates and download any web pages which have been modified since the last download.
Other things you can do include scheduling and automating network tasks such as pinging a server to check if it is up, and using Telnet to execute various commands on a remote server.
Automize has some handy additional features such as monitoring a directory tree for changes, scheduling alarms and message reminders, printing documents, deleting files according to a schedule and much more.
